Question
Error opening drive tray message in Primo DVD.

Answer

Error opening drive tray message in Primo DVD.

Solution 1:

The robotics file that controls the robotic arm and the drive tray may be corrupted.

Please use these instructions to completely remove the program and reinstall.

  1. Go to Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.  Find Primo DVD 2.0 and click Remove.
  2. Now delete the "Primo DVD 2.0" folder from C:Program Files
  3. Also delete the "PrimoDVD" folder from C:Program Files - Common Files
  4. Reboot the PC.
  5. Reinstall the software from the installation disc or from the files downloaded from our download site.

Solution 2:

If there is an error opening the drive tray it could be because of a rejected disc.  Is the disc that is in the drive while it doesn't open a reject?  If so see the rejected discs article.

Solution 3:

It could also be a problem with the firewire or USB connection being lost intermittently in the middle of a burn job.  This would cause a rejected disc and/or the drive tray to not open.  For Bravo, see the firewire connection issues article.  For Bravo II, see the USB connection issues article.

Specifically this can be caused by an incompatible USB 2.0 or Firewire Card.  ALI USB cards and VIA firewire cards are known to cause problems such as this.  To check what card you have installed on a PC, right click on My Computer - Choose Properties - Click on the Hardware Tab - Click Device Manager.  Open Universal Serial Bus (USB) or IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller.  If you find either VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller (Firewire - Bravo) or ALI PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller (USB 2.0 - Bravo II) you may have problem.  Buy a new non VIA/ALI card.
