Label presents or advances forward and then retracts between each print in a job. (LX400)

Answer

Label presents or advances forward and then retracts between each print in a job. (LX400)

This can happen between prints if the file is very large or the computer is slow.  The driver has a preset delay time that it waits for another label before it presents the label for tear off.  If the delay is too long it assumes it has reached the end of a job and presents the label.  If it receives another print shortly after the delay time has elapsed it will simply retract to the next available label and print again.  This delay time can be adjusted in the following manner:

Modify the value of 'PresentDelay' within the following file:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PTI\Drivers\Color Label 400\pt_lp400.ini

Open this file in notepad and look for the PresentDelay entry.  This value sets the delay before presenting the label after no activity.  Units are 0.1 seconds (e.g. default value of 10 will cause a delay of 1 second before presenting the label).  Try increasing to 20 or more if needed.  Save the file and try printing again.

This assumes you have the Output Mode set to "Present" in the Printer Preferences.  Setting the Output Mode to "Do not Present" will also fix this problem.  However, the label will not preset for tear off at the end of a job if you change this setting.
