Answer

Which USB 2.0 and Firewire Cards does Primera recommend to connect to the Bravo, Bravo II or BravoPro?

We recommend the cards that we sell through our sales number - 1-800-797-2772. However, the most important part of a card is not the brand but the chip used on the card. See below for a list of chip brands and their compatibility status:

NEC - Compatible (Our card uses this chipset)
TI (Texas Instruments) - Compatible
INTEL - Compatible

ALI - Not Compatible (Typically found in CompUSA brand USB 2.0 Cards)
VIA - Not Compatible (Typically found in Firewire Cards)

Other considerations:

Onboard Ports. While cards will work with the Bravo units, it is always preferable to use USB 2.0 ports that are integrated into the motherboard of the PC or Mac. It is proven that integrated or onboard ports perform faster especially when burning DVD material. With USB 2.0 cards it is unlikely that you will reach the maximum capable speed of a 16x DVD drive. If possible, it may be beneficial to use a newer computer with integrated USB 2.0 instead of using a USB 2.0 card.

Hubs. USB hubs or pass-through ports on other devices are not recommended.

Port Location. Even with onboard ports, always use the ports on the back of the computer. Those ports are located directly on the motherboard. If you are using a front port, you are likely connected to a hub. It is just located inside the computer rather than outside.

Combo Cards. Stay away from any combo cards. (Cards that do other things in addition to USB 2.0 or Firewire. - Example: 2 firewire ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports and one serial port.)
