Answer
Error in PTPublisher client "Unable to communicate with the robot" while attempting to find the Bravo XRn on the network.
The PTPublisher client uses standard Windows Networking protocol to find the XRn. There can be no password authentication required to access the XRn. To test whether you have the necessary rights to access try the following:
1.
Go to My Network Places on the client computer.
2.
Choose Entire Network.
3a.
If you have made no modifications to your XRn, choose Workgroup.
3b.
If you have added the XRn to your domain, choose your domain name.
4.
Find the XRn on the list of computers. Typically it will be named XRN-2xxx.
5.
Once you find the XRn you should be able to view the shared folders. There should be a shared folder named "PTPJobs" You should be able to read, write and modify the contents of this folder.
If you can find the XRn from one client computer but not another check the following:
1. User Rights.
This user may be in a different user group than the one that is able to find the XRn. This is especially true if you have added the XRn to the domain. Many network administrators create a separate group specifically for the users that will be accessing the XRn.
2. Vista.
Enable file sharing if the client computer has Windows Vista installed. This is not enabled by default.
3. Antivirus Software/Firewall.
Make sure the Antivirus software installed on the client or the network firewall is not blocking access.
